Two elevators stopped athe the sixth floor are making a decent to the first floor. The slow elevator takes two minutes to reach a floor. The fast elevator takes one minute to reach a floor. There are people waiting on each floor for an elevator and the elevator that reaches the floor first must pick up the passengers. It takes three minutes to pick up the passengers. If both elevators start on the sixth floor and the same time, which will reacht the first floor first? How long does it take?

The slow elevator gets down first. It takes 13 minutes.
The elevators start on the sixth floor and have to pick up people on floors 5, 4, 3, and 2. They finish on floor 1.
Fast elevator times.
6) t = 0 leave
5) t = 1 arrive, pick up people, t = 4 leave
4) t = 5 arrive, no pick up, t = 5 leave
3) t = 6 arrive, pick up people, t = 9 leave
2) t = 10 arrive, pick up people, t = 13 leave
1) t = 14 arrive
Slow elevator times.
6) t = 0 leave
5) t = 2 arrive, no pick up, t = 2 leave
4) t = 4 arrive, pick up people, t = 7 leave
3) t = 9 arrive, no pick up, t = 9 leave
2) t = 11 arrive, no pick up, t = 11 leave

The slow one makes it first. Slow one takes 13 minutes and picked up only on the 4th floor. The fast one takes 14 minutes and picked up on the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th floors.

Take it step by step and actually draw a diagram of it. how long will it take for each elevator to reach the 5th floor, 4th floor, etc., with the added time for picking up passengers!!!
