I am curious. I have a couple of gay friends that are devote Catholics and they are truly "church goers"

However it seems from some of the QAs on here that the LGBT community would not likely be regular attenders?
Is that a safe assumption.
Im not trying to be offensive, Im not here to bash, just to want to gain knowledge in this area.....

Many gay people have given up on religion due to the actions of those who insist on promoting homophobia and using God to justify those sinful actions. Those who have put this stumbling block in front of my gay brothers and sisters will be judged accordingly by God.

However, there are thousands of welcoming and affirming churches all over the country and many gay people are religious. I myself happen to be a Christian gay man. As a matter of fact, a gay man founded the Metropolitan Community Church for gay people and it has churches all over the world.

It is not a safe assumption at all. I'm sure you have heard of the old saying when you assume something it makes an *** of you and me.

I am not only gay and a devowt "church goer" as you say, but I am in church ever Sunday, then teach Sunday School, followed by working with youth groups from 3rd grade to 8th grade. On Wednesday I teach any age group from 2 year olds to 21 year olds. Oh and here is the kicker, I am employed by the church too! I am a teacher for an E.S.L. program for 2 to 5 year olds.

Oh and my church is an old fashioned one that would probably shoot a homosexual on site. I don't agree with this, and I certainly don't teach it. But this way, by working there, I can not only help others spiritually, buy also socially, teaching them to truely love one another, that hatred is wrong, and that stereotypes are bad. I tell them that they should never judge anyone, ever. I enjoy showing them that they really don't know what they think they do in regard to other people.

This may all seem odd to you, but I believe it helps. I used to work at a religious college. Homosexuallity was not only wrong and condemnible, but it was a student's responsiblity to Christ to have a homosexual change their ways right then, or bring them in...
Needless to say, I envaded the campus with one huge rainbow. I not only brought fellow "members" in with me, but we made an impact on student life too. We almost ended hatred there. Some of course can not be changed, pre-sems for example. I managed to aide in gaining educational classes in regard to homosexuality. Classes were ranged from theater, to English, feminism, ecconomics, and others. I even knew a pastor that knew the truth about homosexuallity. He got hold of the Christian Ethics class and opened the eyes of all that were in the room. He had it lead by student discussion for the safety of his own job. There was so much of an impact that the President of the church was called in to investigate. I know him, so that ended quickly, but several more officials came to try and put an end to this. I made sure that everything was "legal" as they put it before I even said the first word when I put foot on the campus. They could not do a damn thing, and the fight still goes on today. Loud and proud we lift high the cross, to show others the TRUE LOVE of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Sweetheart, I'm an eclectic Pagan for lack of a better word and my Mother claims I'm a Christian. To be perfectly honest, I probably would be if I could find a church that would actually follow Jesus' word instead of that of Paul and the OT. Instead, I choose to pick and choose from around the Faiths of the world. I figure Faith is good, religions kill people. So I'll keep my eclectic status and just be kind to people and keep loving a Happy Parent. it works for me (and harms no one else).
Blessings.

You den of vipers! Hypocrites! you are all traitors to our Lord! Who gave you the right to say this one is going to hell and that on is righteous. Jesus loved the people that you hate so much that He gave His life in an ugly way for them.

Jesus told us that the only one who can judge a sinner is one who is sinless. "Let him who is without sin cast the first stone."

He told us to do away with your own sin first before you try point out someone else's sin and you can't do it. "Hypocrites, remove the log from our own eye before trying to remove a speck from our brother's."

The Lord said that we were not to judge the sins of others; that is His work. He warned us that if we disobeyed about judging that we would pay for it. "Judge not less you be judged, for by the scale that you judge other so shall you be judged."

Jesus said that people would know His followers because of the love that we showed. "And people shall know you are mine because you love one another." He wasn't talking about Christians loving Christians. He was talking about Christians showing His love to everyone they met. Traitors.

I'm a married, bi-sexual Christian that prays daily and attends church. I know in my heart that Jesus loves me and gave His life for me just as I am. I am how He made me. He put the gene on my DNA. I know that I am heaven bound and am humbled by His love.

I am sickened that wicked creatures like you soil His name with your hatred and vitriol. I ask God the Father to forgive you and to open your eyes and hearts before you are cursed for all time. Because in the last judgement, I am convinced that Jesus will say to you "I know him/her not".
