One object is at 90° or right angles to another. It can also be called "square" although a square is also a geometric two-dimensional object consisting of four equal-length sides joined perpendicular to each other.

For example, one wall of a conventional room will be perpendicular to the adjoining wall, and the walls will be perpendicular to the floor and ceiling.

Another example is a flag pole - it will be perpendicular to the ground provided the flag pole is straight up and the ground is flat.

Carpenters and plumbers use this term every day.

This is embarrassingly simple geometry and the answer should be found in any dictionary or math text book, or any one of hundreds of web sites. Its also in the wrong category but I hope my answer helps.
