I'd recommend UC Davis- it's definitely science- and research-oriented...tons of labs to work in and get experience, plus the vet school and med school to work in, not to mention genentech and other private labs to intern for in and around the Davis/Sacramento area. I LOVE Davis, and I'd definitely encourage a bio major to apply (I'm genetics)

The worst UC school is still better than the best public school in most states. Any of them will be good for biology.

UC-Berkeley is the best, though.
