Multiply to eliminate the brackets
12x -20 = 10x +20

Then combine like terms and solve
12x - 10x = 20 +20
2x = 40
x = 40/2
x = 20

First you have to factor it out.
Then match like terms.
Then divide by 2
4*3x - 4*5 = 5*2x + 5*4
12x - 20 = 10x + 20
12x - 10x - 20 + 20 = 10x - 10x + 20 + 20
2x = 40
2x / 2 = 40 / 2
x = 20

Hope this helps.
