Like most of the people in the area of Texas where he grew up, Bush, in partnership with several others, went into the oil business and got out of it before the industry nearly collapsed. Whether or not his stock portfolio contains petroleum industry stocks doesn't have any weight since he most likely doesn't control enough shares to have a major say in the company.
