treat the inequality sign exactly like you would an equals sign unless you multiply/divide by a negative number (that makes the inequality sign flip, i.e. < becomes >)

Just subtract the 2.7/8 over to the other side!

x > 2.8

x >= 3

(Aside: for greater than or equal, you can use >= )

Solve an inequality just as you would solve an equality: whatever you do to one side, you must do the other side too.

But there is one extra rule...
If you multiply or divide by a negative number, you must change the direction of the inequality. For example if you have:
x > 2
then multiplying by -1 gives you:
-x < -2

Otherwise, it's pretty much the same.

x+2.7=5.5
x+2.7-2.7=5.5-2.7
x=?????
then replace the answer w/x add and c if it is true
