I didn't have much confidence in the leadership abilities after I found out that he felt it was more important to read children's books than to sound the alarms and try to at least make an attempt to look like he knew what he was doing.

And what would You have done?

After the first plane hit that building, No One Knew that it was the first volley in an attack. It could as easily have been an accident--which has happened (historically) when a military plane hit the Empire State Building years ago.

Would you have preferred that he jump up, shout "oh my God, we're being attacked! Run for you lives!" to a bunch of kindergarten kids?

That would have been irresponsible, and you know it.

Admit it. Nothing he could have done that morning ever have met your approval. If he'd have instantly left and disappeared on Air Force One, you'd be calling him a coward who ran and hid.

Your personal hatred is clouding your views.
