The density of 2-propanol is 0.79 g/mL at 25 degrees Celsius
The density of water is 1.00 g/mL at 25 degrees Celsius. What qualitative observations could you expect to make if these two substances were mixed together?

Thanks so much!

You would expect to see a density intermediate between 0.79 and 1.00 g/mL in the mixture. If the water and 2-propanol do not interact, the density of the mixture will be proportional to the contribution from each component.

Another name of 2-propanol is "isopropanal alcohol" or IPA. 2-propanol can dissolve in water, or water dissolve in IPA, in any ratio. Therefore, if you mix water and 2-propanol, it forms a uniform solution!
