I know this is a silly question, but I've decided to crochet several lap blankets this Christmas for a majority of the women in my family. I've also thought of maybe selling them one day...but does anyone even buy them anymore?

Any senior, Handicapped, or normal person would value them greatly. They would also work for any child in the family as well when they just want to snuggle on the couch or maybe on their bedroom floor or bed. I also urge you to look into making a couple and brightening the life and warming the lap (not to mention the heart) or a person in a retirement home or maybe even a Shriner's or other Children's hospital!

Yarn or fabric, Knitted, crocheted, quilted or simply tied anything would be welcomed.

(Simply tied? Here's a link http://www.stitchingthenightaway.com/articles/no_sew_fleece_blanket_project.htm )

I'm sorry, I don't know of anyone who buys lap afghans, but
if you have too many or would like to donate some I know that the Veteran's Hosptials and the Nursing homes are always
very excited about passing out handmade goods to their
patients. Our group at the Senior Center donates some every year.

I want one! They are great at work, especially if you are the only one who is cold. I use one all the time, wear a sweater for the top half and the blanket on the bottom half, can leave that behind when I have to wander around for some reason.

If you are looking for a service project, I know that some of the nursing homes in my area (outside Baltimore MD) like getting them. You might want to look into that in your area.

Yes, people still buy lap rugs ~ for aging relatives, people who are shut ins or in the hospital, for cozying up in front of the fire or riding around in a car without heat! I still make them as gifts from time to time, and I'm always amazed how much they seem to get used :)

I think many sources can use them. Especially needed in hospitals for people undergoing dialysis-as they get quite cold. I do them for service work and they go to hospitals, care/hospice, abused shelters and missions. Not for sale of course, but you will find that if you are out making them while waiting for an appointment or whereever you are-often people stop and ask questions. I have sold several children's sweaters that way.

I know the American Legion Auxiliary makes them each year for the veterans in the hospitals. They would appreciate any that you can't sell and want to donate.

lap rugs are very popular for wheelchair users especially.

I'm sure if you made extra that you could easily sell them or donate them to your local nursing home.
