The title says it all, what's the best way to attach a plastic object to another plastic object securely? I'm looking for a way to do it other than by superglue, because I'm concerned that might not be strong enough.

It depends on the plastic(s):

To join two pieces of Styrene plastic (most models), use model CEMENT... it melts the plastic slightly and WELDS the joint.

To join two pieces of PVC, use PVC cement.

To join dissimilar plastics, use Gorilla Glue or Epoxy. Perhaps drill thru to add fasteners (rivet, bolt, or plastic studs), or build up a filet and cover with epoxy...

I'd really need to know WHAT you're joining, how much surface area contacts, and what direction will the stresses be.

Good Luck

Depending on what it is, I have had good luck heating a metal object, like a butter knife, and using it to melt the two plasti pieces together. If you don't want to melt it, buy some pipe cement and primer that is used to bond pvc plumbing pipe. Don't get the puple primer if you don't want your plastic turned purple. Once you glue it, hold it a few seconds and it is there for good. No taking it off.

Um.
Try a hot glue gun.
If it gets hot enough.
It should work fine.
