That's a great idea, in fact, didn't some woman from Africa win a pulitzer prize (or other prize) a couple of years for starting that in her country? If you need trees then ask your government to set aside some and where trees already are and nobody touch them, make it private land. Why not ask your government to make construction workers that take trees replant one tree for every tree they take down?
Why not have your government set aside one day a year when everyone gets to plant a tree in memory of a loved one or two who has passed away in their life (the government can supply the saplings, and people could purchase them for a tiny amount of money, and then that money collected could pay for the saplings for the following year that the government would provide/sell to the public.
