What book would you recommend, what book is your favorite?

Right now I am reading a Jodi Picoult book called "Keeping Faith" . It's alittle different than what I usually read, as I tend to avoid religion in books, but this one seemed interesting. I love crime/mystery/fiction types of novels.

My favorite book is Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton. What I love most about it, is the style of writing Crichton employs. He makes it so believable, like there really is a secret island somewhere that has long-forgotten dinosaurs living on it. I really hate reading critiques on it, though, because nothing upsets me more then people destroying a wonderful story by pointing out all the inconsistencies and problems with the story using today's technology and knowledge.
As for other favorites of mine, I like Raymond Feist's fantasy series revolving around the world of Midkemia. It's similar to Lord of the Rings, but it engages my attention a lot better then LotR did. Feist even said, in an interview, that many of the similarities in his novels that are similar to LotR are his way of paying homage to Tolkien. I think he did an excellent job.
Another book (or series) that I highly recommend everybody read at least once in their life is the Dave Pelzer original trilogy. Especially "A Child Called It." I've read this book twice and cried both times. Child abuse is such a sad tragedy that happens everyday in society. What would possess a human being to beat up on a vulnerable child, whether physically, emotionally, psychologically, etc.? It's disgusting. Both times I've read this book, I've always felt like wanting to make a difference by adopting abused children. When I start a family, I may go that route eventually, but I've heard that adopting, or even fostering, abused children requires I lot of emotional and physical efforts. We'll see.

So, bottom line, my favorite books that I recommend are
- Jurassic Park (Michael Crichton)
- Magician or Magician: Apprentice and Magician: Master (Raymond E. Feist)
- A Child Called It (Dave Pelzer)

2) Wheel Of Time by Robert Jorden.
It is a scifi/fantasy books. They are really good. If you do read them, then start at book one-Eye Of The World. If you start in the middle of the seriers then you will be confuse. He does not have a web site of his own or I would give it to you.

3) DragonLance
It a fantasy series. It is really good. They are making a movie of Automn of Twilight. I think that is the first book.

I recommend those books if you like romance and fantasy books.

To Kill A Mocking Bird By Harper Lee is a great book.I
I recommend a group of short stories by James Joyce, The Dubliners. Read biographies and autobiographies about and by individuals you find interesting. MY favorite book is Ulysses by James Joyce. If you are very young, you may want to delay reading it for a few years.

I think that as you personally evolve, so does your taste in books. I know that as a child I read all the Nancy Drew books, and a series about a nurse. I later 'tried' gothic romances (not for me) then moved on to sci-fi and horror (Read all the King, Koontz, Cook, books). Even did a stint reading dragon books..... (That's NOT where the name came from.)

A good classic book that I'd reread would be Fahrenheit 451.

What kind of books are you reading now?

The Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. Ha I am the first to say it. You'll get tons more of Twilight answers, brace yourself.

I also like Trickster's Choice and Trickster's Queen, the sequel, by Tamora Pierce.

And I like them all for the same reason: the plots are unlike anything I've ever seen. They're different, and the stories themselves are very well planned and written.

One of my alltime fav's "The Door into Summer" by Robert Heinlein.... a science fiction story about a guy who undergoes cryogenics, and wakes up in the future about 20 years later.... then has to go back to the past again because of some trouble created back then... Fun story, and love the personality Heinlein creates for his characters... and the clever time juggling events.

John Hodgman's book... I can't remember the title as the title is incredibly long, but he only has one book and it's absolutely hilarious! John Hodgman is also known for being the PC in the Apple Computer commercials featuring two guys who play an Mac and a PC.

I have a few favorites that I would recommend,

The Pilot's Wife (Anita Shreeva?)
Elsewhere (don't know the author)
Lovely Bones (once again do not know the author)

all three are very good books, different writing styles though since I don't know what style within your genres you like.
