what they all said... but....

in some modern music the composer has written for the flute to be key-tapped which then makes it a percussion instrument.

In this technique, the player hits the key down quickly and sharply which causes a percussive sound in the pitch of whichever hole is closed.

There is an example that I don't have a link to on YouTube of someone playing the Inspector Gadget theme with both vocal and percussive effects.

Officially however, the flute is a member of the woodwind family and more specifically is an "aerophone, pipe a., edge instrument, true flute, transverse flute" in the full family nomenclature (taxanomy)

Flutes along with clarinets and saxophones are a part of the woodwind family. An example of a percussion instrument would be drums.

It is a woodwind. A percussion instrument has to be struck in some way(drums, pianos, xylophones, etc).
