Education System? WE have an "Education System" ?? -To do WHAT- with??! No, people can't Spell anymore- and they can't "Add, Think, or Comprehend" much of anything- either! And as for USING the "Spell Checking" tool- even if they KNEW what it was THERE for- they couldn't be "bothered"! Communication is being reduced to the shorthand of Text Messaging...-& heaven help us if one day a couple of Dirty Bombs go off- & everyone's Cell Phone dies... :(

Of course you can use the spell checker, but I think there is a more interesting readson (I am not going to spell chck this for a reason).
My mistakes are because my fingures go on the wrong keys, (usually neighbouting ones) or becasue one goes down slightly behind the other. Eg 'becasue'also 'neighbouting' where 'r' is nest to 't'
Far more interesting are the really bad mistakes like homonyms. I keep using 'there' for 'their' and even 'they're'. I guess if you are writing you watch what you are doing and pick up the mistake before it is really made. If you do not watchit is as if you spelling is under the control of your fingers not your mind.
And then some people are not very literate, but who cares if they have something to say. Thasswot i fink.

Its usually just laziness. I am highly educated and can spell exceedingly well when I choose to do so but now and again I get lazy and can't be bothered. Its not as if any great literary beings of note read all this. Its just for fun. But hey, the education system is awful and that manifests itself in so many different ways - not just spelling! Its the lack of any real insight and imagination that frightens me most. Some of the dear creatures on here are so caught up in our 'celebrity culture' that they fail to even grasp basic human concepts. I see it as an evolutionary process though and therefore I watch with interest.

For one, I have found that the Check Spelling option does not always work on here. Many people type fast and are so excited to send their answer and they don't care or notice incorrect spelling's. Todays youth are consumed with text messaging & instant messaging that they have become accustomed to lingo/slang and they're own version of abbreviations, some people just make errors once in a while because we are only human.........

Awful has only got one 'l', but yes I agree. There is no excuse for spelling anything wrong when there is a spell checker available. People are just bone idle nowadays.

Nah, it's just laziness. There is nothing wrong with British education, it's just that most people seem to be too lazy to stretch their little finger to the Caps Lock/Shift key. Text language is another matter.. boy does that irritate me, though. Again, using text language is a sign of laziness.

Well .... i think not every one answering is British or American .... some people barely use English just to make u understand what they want to say .
Also, some people doesn't use that check spelling .
And, i think when they write badly or can't spell, u though can get the idea .... so they did what they want and would have their question answered ....

Because there are so many people who can't spell, full-stop.
Y! Answers shows a cross-section of the community at large. And the Yahoo! spellchecker isn't much good anyway - it didn't work very well on your question, did it?

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.
You used the word CANT for cannot.
Cant means A Slanted Edge.
So the spellchecker was no good in your case.

Answering people's questions here is not homework that can be graded or anything. It's volunteer. When I type, I don't want to spend so much time correcting my grammar and spelling. As long as people can understand my answer, then that's good enough.
