Has any one had any bad side affects to Gardasil? Do you have to get a pap smear before they let you get the shots?

I've not taken it yet, but plan to get the injections.

However, my friend passed out and fell on the floor during her injection. Seriously.

Neither the doctor, nor the nurse, told her that one side effect was possibly fainting and that she needed to be seated while receiving the injection and stay seated for at least 15 minutes afterward. She was standing, passed out, and fell on her face.

Be forewarned and be seated.

The Gardasil injection to protect from the Human Papilloma virus known as genital warts, and can cause cervical cancer is dosed in 3 shots. Coincidentally, I'm going to get my third and last shot tomorrow at my OB-GYN at the same time I go to get my birth control prescription.

There are no side affects other than side affects from the needle itself, which is soreness, redness of the injection site, and swelling of the injection site. It's an excellent protection against HPV and guards against both cervical cancer and genital warts, which are caused by the Human Palilloma virus itself.

You can't beat protection from one of the most commonly spread viruses that can also cause a dangerous type of cancer, right? "One less" is a good message to send.

If you haven't gotten it yet, I'd wait.

Read up on this first. It doesn't protect against ALL cervical cancers, and NOONE knows the long term affects of the shot as there have been NO studies.

I got the vacines and haven't experienced any negative side effects. The actually shot was very painful though, but well worth it when you consider the alternative!
