Well, Disneyland opened in 1955 not Disney World. The most important thing to me about the opening of Disneyland is that it opened the oppurtunity to have Disney World. Yes, I know DIsneyland is more classic, however I love Disney World. I think that it is just a more magical park. Don't get me wrong, Disneyland is magical, but DW has more room for more magic. It is a bigger park and when I walk thru the gate of Magic Kingdom...I feel like I am 6!

I would say the most important thing about the opening of "DisneyLand" in '55 was the fact that Walt got the job done in time!! There was a walk-out or strike going on with the blacktop workers... So Walt went and talked to them and actually got them to come and pave the streets of Disneyland so it would be ready for opening day... I also read somewhere that opening day was so hot that ladies high heeled shoes were actually sinking into that newly paved blacktop!! And they ran out of soft-drinks and rides were breaking down and the like...
But, still, Disneyland was a success from day one... and the Disney Company needed that influx of cash to help pay off all the debts that they had acquired in opening the park!!

The most important thing about Disneyland opening in 1955 is It didn't open up as smoothly as Walt Disney thought it might. Fake tickets, A hot HOT day. so HOT that the tar that they just put out just the night before the park opened, melted and stole some womens high heeled shoes being stuck to the fresh hot tar.

The most important thing about Disneyland's opening is that Walt Disney got to see his dream come true. Nothing beats that. Without his dreams we wouldn't have Disney World or anything else Disney.
Just a shame he died before Disney World opened...

That would be Disneyland.
It was the first of it's kind that was the most publicized before it's opening. I have seen where there were other theme parks, on the Travel Channel, that were built before Disneyland. So the theme park part was not the buzz. Just that people had watched it on t.v. and seen the previews Walt provided each week in his show, Disneyland. He addressed something other parks had not, adults being able to enjoy the rides with their kids. Walt would take his girls to a park on "Daddy's Day" to ride the carousel. Walt ended up sitting on a park bench eating peanuts, just watching them, not being able to enjoy the ride with them. Smart man. For a family theme park, that is important.
Hope this answers your question.
