I've been waiting for the Indians to break out for a couple years now. They had extraordinary young talent that needed nothing more than experience at the MLB level. This bunch is not only a playoff team, but will be a legitimate threat to anyone who runs into them.

I'll admit that I thought the Tigers would take the division. Most everything has gone Cleveland's way this season. Carmona-who knew? The emergence of Rafael Perez-same thing. Who the ---- would have thought that Paul Byrd would have the season HES having?? The emergence of Ryan Garko as an everyday first baseman, allowing Blake to make the switch to everyday third baseman has greatly solidified the infield. This team is deep everywhere, has had pretty good luck health wise, and bringing Lofton aboard for the stretch drive was a great move. So much is going good for them that you hardly notice that Hafner is having an off year at the plate.

"Dear White Sox,
Having a great time in the 2007 playoffs. You're not here, but at least you'll have a high draft choice and you got to catch up on your hunting and fishing.
Love,
Cleveland Indians"

OMG I love this! The Indians have an 8-game LEAD. The White Sox are ummm......2 games ahead of the Marlins? The dude is right, if you wanna talk luck, talk about the 2005 World Series.

First off, the poster above who said he thinks Seattle is better then Cleveland, that is the most ridiculous statement I have read in a while, thanks for the chuckle.
Indians skidded big time in August. And to respond to the question they DID HAVE pitching for weeks, they have had it all year. Just lack of hitting for a month in August. I'd rather have them ice cold in August and hot in September going into October. The best team does not always in the Wolrd Series. Look at the Cardinals last year.
The Indians have been rejuvenated by the addition of Chris Gomez, Kenny Lofton and Asdrubal Cabrera. These guys have added a saprk to the team and they have been hitting the ball really weel since.
I'd take my chances going into October with a rotation of CC Sabathia, Fausto Carmona, Paul Byrd and Jake Westbrook. In a short 5 game series you will need to beat CC twice more then likely, good luck with that. Not to mention Carmona behind him. The bullpen is solid-Perez and Betancourt are two of the best relief pitchers in the bigs. The closer role is shaky at best. Borowski is the weak spot on their team. I see that as a concern in October.
With this said, they are for real. I don't care about their month of August, this is a hungry team with a stud starting pitching staff. That is something that any team they face will need to be concerned with.

My apologies to you for being a White Sox fan, and I have checked out their record, And currently, and not counting the late game, they are 79-58, and they are in first place in the central diversion. And the Chicago White Sox are 59-79, and in last place. And it is hard to believe that 2 years ago there were on their way to being the best team in baseball. Currently they are 81-58, the first record, for the Indians I got out of a local paper, and the second, I got out of the standing on Major League Baseball's website. No offense, but 2 years ago, the Chicago White Sox were world champs, now they are world chumps. Sorry I am just telling the truth.

Luck? They've been playing this way most of the season. True, August stunk, so I guess it's time to make up for it. In the meantime, the Tigers just keep sinking lower and lower. Btw, isn't the White Sox magic number 3 or something like that? I heard that they were killing the manager .

ok first of all you should not ge allowed in this section. They have the second best pitching staff in the league behind the red sox. CC has 16 wins(should have around 20) Fausto has 15(should have around 18, and Byrd who has really picked it up in the second half. if you want to talk about luck we should be talking about the 2005 world series.

GO TRIBE!!!

I can tell you're a Sox fan because you can't even spell their name right. We'll send you a postcard from the playoffs! "No pitching for weeks"????? WTF???? Look at the stats, bro. Like ERA, quality starts, and WINS. "ride luck into the playoffs"? There is no "luck" involved-they ARE solid and they have EARNED it. And when it comes to luck, we are talking about Cleveland- we are luckless. Ask Jose Mesa. P.S. We have biotch-slapped 2-time Cy Young winner Johan Santana for FIVE LOSSES THIS YEAR. That ain't "luck", son.

I don't think they will go far into the playoofs because they will end up running into the Red Sox, Angles, Yankees, or Mariners (depending on whichone wins the Wild Card) and Ithink all 4 of them are better teams right know. But I do see them winning the AL Central because the Tigers are not as good as they were last year.
