My friend is around 63 and all of a sudden for the past few months has had nervewracking twitching in her one eye. She has been to eye doctors, regular doctors, and even a chiropractor and none of them can identify or cure this twitching. Any ideas on what it could be.

A common cause of twitching and spasms is a magnesium deficiency.

Eye twitching is almost always harmless. Usually people begin to fixate on it, making it worse. Other things that make it worse are stress, fatigue, and caffeine.
It is most likely harmless, and the only reason to see a doctor is to make sure nothing else is going on like hyperthyroidism or neurologic problem. If that is negative, she needs to focus on ignoring the twitch as much as possible. Ignoring it will help break the cycle.

I dont know how severe the twitch is, but I have been told it was from lack of sleep. When your eye muscles dont have enough rest then they can become fatigued just like any other muscle.
