Nice answer, there.
Usually it just takes one embarassing moment to set off the fear. The trick it to not let the fear consume you, otherwise it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. It's hard, but it doesn't mean one is self-absorbed.

First of all, the fear of embarrassing yourself probably cause by low self-esteem, otherwise, if you feel confident about yourself, you will not care about other people opinion of you. Second, when you scared or panic, you tend to make mistake, speech and gesture(clumsy perhaps), and surely, you will look like a fool.

Because it follows the law of attraction. We are most attracted to that which we spend the most time thinking about and fussing over.
For instance, negative causes more negative, you stub yer toe when you get out of bed, then you burn your breakfast, then you worry about being late, then maybe you get into a fender bender accident and then that cause you to be late for work. That negativity brings on more negativity. Likewise, positive brings more positive. So be positive. Don't think about embarrassment, it only brings on embarrassment, unless you like embarrassment.

One person can be afraid of something, that most people aren't afraid of. They might be afraid to admit it.
