Obstacle...an unforeseen hindrance to one's expected path. to use such a hindrance to further my progress along said path would be to turn it into a stepping stone. However, to meet the challenge by changing paths and developing a new direction would take open minded thinking and availability to new paths. This is the building block route and can be the harder path if one is stubborn or doggedly determined to remain on the first path. It can also be the more creative, more enlightened and more fun if one is so wired. "Hard" and "Easy" are very subjective terms. It may be harder to stick to the original path even by using the new stepping stones since it is no longer the original plan. It looks different. Or it may be harder to dive into a completely new plan. Obstacles often reveal our true character, and that can be very hard for some people.

No offense but overall even in loose metaphorical terms, the words do not fit together.
I would look at this way however a building block should elevate you and a stepping stone should help you progress, or simply trans-locate.
Therefore in my opinion if an obstacle changed your path(but did not stop you) it is still making you progress, although not necessarily in the right direction. Does this mean it is a stepping stone, most certainly not.
To use an obstacle to build and elevate is far more difficult. Yet does building on an obstacle leave you with secure foundations? I have enough knowledge of architecture to know the what you build upon is key to the overall stability of the structure.
To see an obstacle as anything but something to overcome and possibly learn from actually makes the obstacle larger by giving it significance further than it already had.

It's harder to make obstacles into building blocks because they are by nature 'obstacles'. But they can be stepping stones if you step over them.

stepping stones are harder, they require focus and hard work, then you have to walk the walk and not the talk, making obstacles into building blocks is usaully done by pushing something till you hit rock bottom.both can be whittled down on the path, but building blocks require more time than stepping stones and usaully it means youve strayed off the stones and made larger obstacles for making building blocks

It is much more difficult to turn obstacles into building blocks. Stepping stones require time and patience which could later lead to building blocks.

Well for me it would be much harder to make obstacles into anything other than stepping stones. This is my opinion only....
That would be because all obstacles are only the light of Creator touching us with a blessing, covered in a problem. To see if we can create options, and in so doing find the one that we were intended to use.
Blessings and love,
Sassy

They are both equal.
However, if you want to build a defensive wall and close yourself in, then use blocks.
If you want to get over the obstacles and move on, then make stepping stones. That would also make it easier for those coming behind you.

Obstacles are easier to do into Building Blocks, because they are easier to move than stepping stones.

Honestly, Enki, they're both very hard to do. When it comes to Building Blocks, a person needs a foundation to stand on and to encourage them to go on with whatever they're trying to conquer. When it comes to creating Stepping Stones, a person has to be willing to step into their own as an individual, prove to themselves (& maybe others) that they're capable of achieving personal success and outer acceptance. A person has to change what they've been taught all their lives and be totally reprogram themselves on their own beliefs. It's harder to make Obstacles into Stepping Stones because with a new and revised 'you', the world isn't as caring as it could be.
