I told a friend a secret about reading my sister's diary. I told him not to tell her about it. Even so, he went and blurted it out to her...I know this because my sister told me he told her. So I went online and I asked him if he told my sister about the "secret". I asked again to make sure but he said no a bunch of times. I sort of believed him but I wasn't that stupid, so I went to check with my sister again. She said he was obviously lying. I got mad because he lied twice:
1. about keeping the secret
2. lying again when I asked him if he spilled the beans

His reason to back up his saying of not lying is that my sister ASKED him to. He "didnt tell her", but got asked. Sure...right, he got asked to tell. Which he did. I think he was trying to look for a loop hole.

Would you consider being asked to tell a secret basically breaking it? I got so mad I yelled at him over online. He's not an honest friend..I feel like I can't trust him..which is pretty sad.

Besides my sister lies to me all the time, about everything. Compared to reading her diary, it's nothing. Her diary is more like a journal then anything secret.

My sister doesn't even care about mt reading her "diary". So I don't think it's your place to say that. It's not even a diary, I just put that word in instead of journal.

Her sentences are like a few words:

Went to school. Hang out with hannah. Mom drove me home.

Right, is that really secret? NO

He was just trying to find his way out of telling you the truth. He told her, whether you want to believe it or not. What I would've asked him..."How did my sister know to come to you & ask you about her diary"? How would your sister even know that you looked at it at all?!!!! It could've been anyone...you & your sister are not the only one in the house right. Why didn't he just say "she asked me" the first time you asked him.

When you tell someone NOT to tell a secret & that person(s) says "I Promise"....they should learn NOT to tell...wheather they were asked or not...it's not like she held a gun to his head & forced him to tell.

Just look at it this way, at least you know now that you cant turst him anymore w/secrets!!!!!!

Let me add another thing...granted it wasnt right to go through her things, BUT, every sibling(s) does it...i've worn my sister's clothes w/out asking her, & she did the same to me sooooo...no one can tell me that they didnt do something wrong to their siblings

I see your side of the story. Although you can't have expected much from a guy. Apparently you have to specify everything, or else he doesn't get it. Maybe he likes her, or just thought it was mean to tell him her secret. If it had been me I'd be pretty pissed that HE TOLD your sister. Weather he was ASKED or not, he broke his promise by spilling the beans. He should have given you a chance to talk to your sister FIRST. But there must have been SOME reason why you told HIM. But apparently his loyalty is with your sister and not you. This boy is not to be trusted with any information that involves you or your sister. I understand that sisters sometimes do things to each other that aren't fair or nice. In any case, you could have talked to your sister about it. I don't care how mean she may be, never..... NEVER do ANYTHING that will bite you in the butt later. Try talking it out with both of them. Maybe you'll find out something you didn't know.

You might of avoided all of this drama if "you" wouldn't have read your sisters diary in the first place. It's her privacy that you invaded. who cares if the guy lied or not. So he told your sister. He is more of a friend to her than he is to you.

Yes, you pretty much had the answer already, dont get too mad though. He probably just felt bad about keeping the secret since you read your sisters diary. which isnt that great either.

Ok ya he lied to you but honestly I would've told your sister that you were in her diary too but I would've never lied to you the 2nd time I would of told you I was quite disguisted by what you had done & that I would not hide it from your sister. Give her some privacy come on how would you like it if she did that to you???

He's not an honest friend....correction: he's not your friend at all. Friends never ever spill out the beans unless it's absolutely necessary (health related reasons or if they are under risk of something).
You need to respect your sisters' privacy as well.

Yes. If someone tells someone else something that you told them in confidence then thats bad and hes not a true friend.
