I don't think LSU will make it through the SEC undefeated. That's just too difficult a task to ask of them and they won't play in the national title game if they aren't undefeated. Last year, Florida, which blew out previously unbeaten Ohio State in the Title Game lost to Auburn. LSU will lose at least once in the SEC.
I think USC will end the year unbeaten, as long as they get by Cal and UCLA (Cal could be especially tough, as DeSean showed Tennessee last Saturday night).
I think Texas could be unbeaten if Colt McCoy is more consistent. From the Big East, I doubt that Louisville, Rutgers, or West Virginia goes unbeaten (because the 3 of them will beat each other up and ensure that none of them makes it again). The ACC is pretty much devoid of great teams (Virginia Tech wasn't all that good against East Carolina and they're the best in that sad-sack conference). The Big 10 is wide open now that Michigan has collapsed, but I think the winner of Penn State VS Wisconsin (I'd probably go with Penn State to win because they've been the best performing Big 10 team since the start of bowl games last year) will be undefeated and probably play in the National Title game.
Don't count out TCU (if they beat Texas this week), or the winner of the WAC (which will be whomever wins the Boise State VS Hawaii game).
I don't see any way that Notre Dame is competitive. They don't have anything at QB (Demetrius Jones is awful, Evan Sharpley gets sacked too much, and Jimmy Clausen is a true freshman) and they got blown out by a mediocre (or worse) Georgia Tech team.

honestly i wouldnt be terribly shocked if neither team goes undefeated. CAL has a great shot at upsetting USC. and FL has prob the best shot on LSUs schedule of pulling off an upset. with that said, i can see WVU and CAL going undefeated and playing for the title...both are highly ranked and if CAL can get past USC and WVU can get past LOU theres no other team that should defeat them on each of their schedules.
i really do hope its USC vs LSU though...i mean it would be the game of the decade...maybe the century (i know, far stretch but who knows how the season will play out, these 2 teams may be unreal going into the game).
its been a 4 year build up...the anticipation leading up to the game... the hype... the build up... it being in LSUs backyard... it being a homecoming for JDB...its just almost too perfect of a story to believe.
if it does happen that way, im taking redmanns offer!! haha
last time i was on bourbon street (mardi gras 2003) i had something called "rocket fuel 151" it was fantastic. made w/ 151 and other stuff i have no idea what was in it but it made for a great time!!! not to mention the 64oz beers!!

So here's the deal, USC will most likely go undefeated, unless Southern Cal or UCLA bring an upset, which they are known for. But this does not mean that USC is anywhere near as good as LSU, look at the conferences, in the SEC we have...Alabama, Florida State, Auburn, Tenessee, Ole Miss, Georgia, Vandy, Arkansas, and the list goes on. Who is in USC's conference, I mean come on, they don't have too much competition, which is why everybody always thinks USC is so great. The fact of the matter is, when it comes to football, nobody does it better than the southeast.
Now I will say, this year LSU won't be quite as good as in the past, but that doesn't mean USC stands too much of a chance against them either way.

I dont believe LSU can go undefeated,or USC for that matter,Cal might just put it on USC this year and dont under estimate Charlie Weis and the Fighting Irish,or UCLA.LSU has a tough road with Vtech this week and Florida and Auburn,Arkansas,But they are all at home for LSU,While USC is away for thier bigger games. Also the polls will always give Florida the bid,Just watch Florida win and WVU win this weekend and watch Florida leap frog WVU.So what do you think will happen if LSU or USC loses 1 or comes close to it?

I think USC will lose next week at Nebraska and agian at Cal. I like LSU and think they can be in the title game the Florida game will be close but Florida would have a better shot if they were at home. And yes Notre Dame is going to be very bad this year they might win 2 or 3 games only.

I seriously doubt it. The crazy thing is that they may actually be the 1st and 2nd best teams in the country but still not get i. College football awards conssitently above everything else. Think about the NFL and sure the team with best record wins the superbowl alot of times but surely not every time. In the NFL the superbowl winner may have an off regular season games for all kinds of reasons such as injuries, below average performance etc. Yet in college football one off game ruins the season.
Now take the funny shape of the ball and the way it bounces and sure LSU or USC can lose. They could lose on fluke turnovers or bad calls. They both face some tough teams.
I think they are the best two teams but I doubt they make it undefeated.

Wow LSUBalls you finally sound reasonable, if LSU goes through those games undefeated they should be #1. USC really on has to play 3 teams Cal, Nebraska, and UCLA. Now i am going to say SC wins those games, as for LSU they cant possibly win all those games and win the SEC look at Tenn in 01. It is possible but i aint going to believe it till i see it. i am seeing a Big East team cause that conference is weak outside of Louisville, WVU, and Rutgers. One of those three will make it to the BCS championship game.

The pre season #1 and #2 have never finished that way in history. USC could lose 3 if Nebraska beats them. No way LSU goes through the SEC unbeaten

Believe me we haven't forgotten where the game is and is actually why i want more than anything for it to be these two teams. Should USC walk away victorious I would hope that all LSU fans would finally give some props not only for winning the game but for doing so in their own backyard.
Much like i begrudgingly have to give respect to Texas for beating us in LA.
Regarding #1 vs. #2 and it being rare, it is rare however, i believe it's happened 2 of the last 3 years with SC vs. Oklahoma and SC vs. Texas.

The chances of LSU or USC going undefeated are slim. LSU has to play ALA, AUB, ARK, UF, VT and pesky azz Ole Miss. It will be extremly hard for us not to slip up in one of those games. Having said that, I think USC will lose 1 if not 2 games this year. The only answer I have is time will tell.
