Culpepper won the comp, he's the starting QB, end of story. For better or worse, he's the best QB on Oakland's roster. Maybe if JaMarcus would sign he'd have had a shot at the job, but for now, all he can do is sit around and wait....

I think Culpepper could be comeback player of the year. Not too long ago, he threw for 4700 yards and about 40 TDs, while completing 70% of his passes (by the way, that was the year Randy Moss got hurt). Oakland's defense is one of the best in the NFL (they were #3 last year, barely back of Jacksonville, who was a distant 2nd behind Baltimore) and their offense only needs to score about 20 points a game (300 or so over a full season) to make the playoffs. LaMont Jordan was a 1000 yard back not too long ago, Dominic Rhodes is another former 1000 yard back, and Joey Porter used to be one of the best WRs in the NFL. I also think Mike Williams could make an impact this year for the Raiders (Lane Kiffin coached him at USC and he's got the vertical leap ability to be a great redzone threat).

JaMarcus Russell's choice to holdout of training camp has pretty much cost him his rookie season. Russell is merely a younger version of Culpepper anyways and I'd rather start Culpepper even if Russell had shown up for work. I expect Culpepper to have a decent year (3300 yards and 18 TDs at least) and take Oakland to at least 10 wins.

I think that Daunte Culpepper should be a starter.

He is clearly the best SIGNED QB in terms of throwing the football and athletic ability and SHOULD start. BUT he signed a little late so he might not know the playbook (which I doubt yet NFL teams often use that as an excuse for whatever reason) but yeah michael smith reported that josh mccown is gonna......BORING!

yes he probably should. He has alot more experience than J-Russell. The only reason I would say no is because Culpepper is injury prone

Who else could we start? As much as Culpepper sucks, he's better than the options. McCown, Walter BARF.

He sure tanked my beloved Dolphin's season last year. So, I think he is a chump.
However, he is the best of the bunch of chumps that Raiders got, until Russell signs that is.
May as well start Dante, what do the low Raiders got to lose?!

he should and he most likely will they just want to keep the defense theyre playing their heels and so they have to prepare for both of them. Daunte can throw and he can run, plus he's really big which would also give them an advantage.

He HAS to. Russell won't be ready. Besides, he looked better than he has in 2 yrs
