The Grog shop is in Cleveland Hts, the closet hotel is the Alcazar, if you're going to the Grog shop than the Alcazar may not be for you. They have strict rules about staying there,(no smoking, you have to buzzed in after a certain hour) because they also rent out rooms to senior citizens and they are the oldest hotel in the area.I stayed there for a weekend, Friday -Monday and it cost me $150.There are some hotels in Beachwood, which is like a 20 minute drive from Cleveland Hts. Or you could stay downtown, but downtown is under construction. Try to stay on the east side for hotels like Mayfield Hts, Beachwood or Downtown anything out side of that will be a long drive, because Cleveland Hts is near to any freeway. Too bad you don't know anyone who lives on Coventry.
*** The Alcazar is STILL a hotel, you can call them for a room (216) 321-5400. ****

Well, after a bit of research I found that the HYATT REGENCY which starts at rooms from $89.00 is roughly a 15 minute drive to the grog shop or 6.42 miles
I map quested it
Hyatt Regency
420 Superior Ave E.
Cleveland, Ohio 44114
The Grog Shop
2785 Euclid Hts. Blvd.
Cleveland, Ohio 44118
It looked to be a pretty easy drive although I'm not sure about the construction downtown..There is another option if you have the time and the means.. It's called couchsurfing.com it's a website devoted entirely to people who want to travel but, can't afford hotels... You stay at someone's house and sleep on their couch or whatever they have to offer. It's free.. Being that Cleveland is home to a few universities it might be worth a try... Case Western is right down the road and home to many, many students... If you could find someone at Case that would be ideal.. It would only be 3-4 miles tops away ! Also, I highly recommend eating dinner/lunch at BD"S MONGOLIAN BBQ down the street.. It's awesome and it's cheap.. . Good luck

The chick who talked about the Alcazar must have stayed there a looooong time ago... they don't sell rooms by the night anymore.
The best and closest I know of is:
Holiday Inn Mayfield Village
http://www.holidayinnmayfield.com/
It's about a 20 minute drive to the Grog, with only two turns for you to avoid getting lost.
