Conway Twitty , Eventho he's gone, in my eyes he'll always be the best Country singer, with George Jones, Merle Haggard running close behind.

I think it's none of those three, Garth Brooks is done, Johnny Cash is dead, and Kenny Chesney will be dropped by his lable this year and on the way out! George Jones and George Strait have out lasted all 3 of them put together. Willie Nelson has too. Maybe you have not been listening to country music very long, hang in there soon you will know a lot more stars past and present!

I adore Kenny Chesney, love and grew up on Johnny Cash, and like all but a few of Garth's songs. However, I would have to say George Strait. Who else out there has over 30 number one hits? Been going long and still going strong. Think about it.

How can you even put Garth Brooks in the same sentence with Johnny Cash? What an insult to Johnny Cash and Country Music!!! And although I don't consider Kenny Chesney to be country; whatever he is, he was much better at it when he first started out. This crap he's doing now is down right ridiculous.
