It's a tragedy that no one should dare to judge. There, but for the grace of God, go you.

Someone said depends if it was an accident or not. Forgetting your baby is never an accident. Mothers don't just erase their childrens from their minds when they go to work do they. The husband usually took the baby to daycare....so what. This mother didnt once have her baby cross her mind from the start of work till lunchtime and say oh crap I forgot the baby in all those hours. I just don't understand this as a mother how you can forget your child for that long. I feel sorry for this mom yes because she will have to suffer emotionally for the rest of her life with so much guilt but it is neglect and parents need to stop being so darn busy, selfish and put their family before their careers and this forgetful events would not happen. It is neglect and should be punished according to the law. BTW her husband was on a business trip and usually took the baby. GEez no matter how busy I get when my husband goes on business trips I always remember he is on one. I just don't forget suddenly that he is away. She managed to remember to put the baby from the house to the car because he was away.

Nothing, as long as there are no indications that the mother did it intentionally; the punishment is built in.
This is one of those cases where the mother's history and character witnesses are vitally important.
It is very easy for this kind of thing to happen. Babies commonly fall asleep in cars, and a mother or father who is preoccupied by job-survival, can easily forget to drop the child off, allowing this to happen.
For those bloodthirsty readers -- do you really think a parent needs the additional heartache of being imprisoned to learn his/her lesson? Could this ever happen to the same person twice?

if it's the one in Ohio, nothing, they have no neglect laws there, only reckless endagerment. she was supposed to be so busy she forgot about the child, and accidentally left it in the vehicle, went ou to car hours later and made discovery. Has a 5 yr old daughter that CPS wants to take away, even prosecutor said she is suffering enough and he did a background investigation on her before deciding not to prosecute.

Depends on whether or not it was an accident.
I read of a horrific story (happened in Iowa a few years ago) in which a baby was ACCIDENTALLY left in a car on a hot summer day (and the baby died). In this case, the baby had fallen asleep in her car seat. The mother thought the father had dropped the baby at day care (and visa versa). It was a horrible tragedy, but not something for which the parents should be punished.

Causing death by/through neglect. There is need to have tougher laws to protect the young children/toddlers from roasting in the summer heat. Babies need protection. The mother should go to jail and serve time. That will be a lesson for other mothers.

How adverse to ought to stay with this perpetually much greater being contained in the profession they are the two in being concerning well-being.

wow.. i personally think that is a really hard one to judge with out looking at the hole story/case. the age of the mother i think can play a big roll.....what caused her to forget? (trauma, depression, loss of a loved one) when some thing happens in our lives it can affect greatly how we operate day to day. i would not excuse any one but defiantly the whole story would effect on the time sentence.....from minimum to max. yikes!
