Every time I go to Sonic I always wonder why theres many people in line waiting at the drive thru window.

I have always wondered that myself....glad to know i'm not the only one who doesn't get it. I think maybe people feel like they are getting their food faster if they are sitting in the drive thru, which i seriously doubt is true. I also think that is where people who call in their orders can pick them up....that one makes sense to me, kinda. Someone who works at Sonic please give us a final answer!!!!!!

Well like others said they don't want to eat in the car. Too hot or cold. Don't want to mess up car. The other thing is I personally like, ok love the drinks there. And to me it makes no sense to park and wait for a drink when I can go through the drive thru. Unless of course the line is long.

I think Sonic was originally designed to "order there & eat there" while using the convenience of your auto for comfort & shelter. The drive thru was for people who wanted Sonic food but didn't have time to eat it there (or just didn't want to)

Well it's like any other place, alot of people don't have time to stop and eat, they are always on the go and they think the drive thru is a more convienant way to go about it.

Because I don't plan on eating there in my car. I'm going to eat it at home. The drive thru window is definitley quicker than waiting for the car hop.

Drive thrus are common on almost all fast food chains. That's why its called Fast food and Take Out. People may be picking it up to take home or maybe they don't want to eat in their cars. Some people don't want to eat alone in a restaurant. there are lots of reasons.

Because it actually is just a smidge faster than parking. It's just better for people who are really in a hurry. Trying to get back to work on time and such.

You can actually call and order ahead and then just pick it up at the window.
