We conservatives know that liberals would hate Bush if he found a cure for cancer, so that's a given. No fear.

What we fear is the election of a Democratic President who would ease off on the war on terror and thereby bring it on home again.

PS - we cons and libs need to get together. This divisiveness that we have in the country now isn't doing anyone any good, and both sides miss the good ideas of the other.

The hardest thing for conservatives to admit is that they were wrong. They can handle electoral defeat, even losing a war, but they will never admit they were wrong about something or made a mistake.

The modern conservative movement goes back to Ronald Reagan and his idea about balancing the budget. Reagan said you could balance the budget by spending MORE and taxing LESS. It was an enormous failure, maybe the least successful economic policy ever tried. But try to get a conservative to admit that! They'll blame it on the Democrats or the Communists or aliens or -anything- rather than to admit it didn't work. They still want more spending and more tax cuts, and they damn the consequences!

So Bush's only strategy in Iraq now seems to be to wait until the Democrats take it out of his hands. Then for years and years right-wing mouthpieces and Repubi-parrots will say that we were winning but the Democrats made us lose!

We fear not winning the war in Iraq more. As should all Americans.

I still think the Conservative nightmare scenario starts with Brit Hume looking up at the camera in November 08 and saying, "It's official. Barack Obama is the 44th President of the United States"

The results of not winning the "Iraq war" (which is really now about stabilizing the area against insurgents) is something the entire world should fear.

Sorry, not enough choices.

I'm a GOP and I feel sorry for the Dems because they will not win if they nominate either of the two front runners. Our party made a mess, but the dems are SOOOOO bad, they still will not win the White House because they think America wants a liberal now. The nation is conservative and you Dems just do not get it.

seems like the Dem's also voted to allow US to invade Iraq. Then it became politically expedient to be against the war so they changed.

Having to go into the 2008 elections with it being patently obvious to everyone that their president accomplished absolutely nothing positive in 8 years, drove up the national debt, was responsible for thousands of American soldiers losing their lives, caused the U.S. to lose face around the world, advocated torture, implemented a complex system of spying on Americans, AND lost control of both houses of Congress to the Democrats.
