Strands of mini lights could cost from $2 - $3 a strand. The best time to purchase the lights is after the season is over, however, you can find some great bargains the weekend after Thanksgiving (10%-20%) off.

For ideas on how to decorate your home, and to get ideas from other decorators, I would suggest you visit the forum on http://www.PlanetChristmas.com You will find people that will sell lights or other supplies at very low prices.

There are many ways that you can decorate inexpensively.

You can spend as much as you want to spend. My first year cost me about $400 to get several thousand lights and supplies.

If your want your home inside and out to look tacky and really rough looking like when you see some people decorate it -they seriously over-do it and end up making the outside of their home a complete mess, then by all means go for it, all that kind of stuff is really cheap. If you want to go for elegance and festive, that most houses you see across the world then maybe it might cost you some money - not a lot, but a quite a bit.

Yes and no.

What I'm saying is you can decorate nicely and stay within a reasonable budget - this, of course, involves a bit of work. Check online for decorations, prices, availability.

You can spend $100 or thousands.

Personally, I prefer the simple, classy decorations to the gaudy, Vegas-like displays. Some folks must be compensating, eh?

watch the sales ads around christmas time to find sales on lights. you can also go to stores like big lots where you might be able to save a buck or two. we bought 2 of those lighted moving deer last year the day after thanksgiving for $10 a piece.

aww! its sweet that you'd do that for you niece! around $100 probably less though depends on where you buy deer usually go for around $30-$40 buy sometimes you can get them for a better deal! blakc friday is the go gettem day! otherwise i would try bronners.com and really suggest abcdistributing.com they have great deals on everything and shipping barely costs a dime! i've also noticed that costco has great sales on decorations a week before christmas! good luck!
