3 answers

3(x - 4) = 2x + 7 - 3x

The distributive property on the leff side of the equation

3x - 12 = 2x + 7 - 3x

Collect like terms on the right side of the equation

3x - 12 = - x + 7

transpose x

3x - 12 + x = - x + 7 + x

Collect like terms

4x - 12 = 7

Transpose 12

4x- 12 + 12 = 7 + 12

4x = 19

Divide both sides of the equation by 4

4x / 4 = 19 / 4

x = 19/4

x = 4 3/4

x = 4.75

3(x - 4) = 2x + 7 - 3x
3x - 12 = 2x + 7 - 3x
2x = - 5
x = - 2.5 or - 2 1/2

use the distributive property..so:
3x-12 = 2x+7-3x
then put all x's on one side by subtracting 2x and adding 3x on both sides, so:
4x-12=7
then put the 12 on the other side by adding 12 on both sides:
4x-12+12=7+12
4x=19
divide both siddes by 4, so:
x=19/4
is that ok??
hope so..
