I am in the same boat as you, I have just married a Norwegian man. From what I understand, I have to have lived in Norway for at least 6 months to retain any benefits. But once you do, you can receive mostly free healthcare, and many different government funds and help.
You might want to try this website for more info on what rights you will have:

Good luck!

Does she have a Norwegian passport? If no then she isn't one yet. She continues to be an American. Does marrying a Norwegian qualify you for citizenship? a lot of world places in basic terms because of the fact you marry a citizen does not make you one.

It depends on whether you are going to be a resident here or there. If you are a resident here, there is nothing special. Your spouse can be added to your insurance, inherits the same, etc. S/he would have to apply for permanent residency, of course and you should find out about that before you marry.

If you are there, I don't know. I only know Norwegians who came here and married, not the other way around. (Finns too).

Be aware, that countries that have full health coverage paid by the state may refuse you residency if you are obese or have health problems. The US does not have that restriction.

There is no law preventing you from doing so, marrying a Norwegian should be totally legal unless there is some other circumstance making it otherwise.
