They are all good answers. dont' forget about family either. A lot of the times your Uncles and Aunts may have some furniture that they don't need. You can always just borrow it too. Once you get going, then you can give it back to them and thank them for the use of the furniture.

good luck.

Wow. Good luck kid. I'm 19 and I live on my own. I've been on my own since I was 17. I didn't listen to anyone when they told me not to leave home. That's all I ever wanted to do my whole life. It's so hard. Like you have to come up with $300-1000 deposit JUST for the house/apartment, then pay first months rent $300-1000 and then pay a $200-500 deposit for your lights to be turned on. THEN make your ent payments and light payments every month. Nashville TN doesn't usually hire 16 year olds. Usually you have to sign a year contract and you have to have a co-signer, and someone has to be over the age of 18, to co-sign or to sign for a house period. It's hard. Take my advise, it doesn't sound like it would be. But trust me, it is. I wish I could crawl back into my room at my parents house sometimes and cry and hide.

If there is a Discovery Cancer Thrift store in your area try them. They have good quality stuff and some times even have sales on already reduced items. They keep all the best donations and donate the other stuff to Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc.

Garage sales. Go garage sale shopping... people are always throwing out furniture. I got a free couch from the side of the road and it rocks. Comfy, clean, great condish. You just gotta go around on a Saturday morning and cruise the neighborhoods.
