ok, i have to to find the formula for

1/2, 2/3, 3/4, 4/5

I'm not sure, but i think its something like

n squared divided by n +1
But that doesn't seem to be right.

Help?

You need to look at the problem so you can figure these out for yourself. Set it up like this:

term: 1 2 3 4
equ: 1/2 2/3 3/4 4/5

Now try to see the pattern. We see the numerator equals the term; we see the denominator is one more than the term. Thus,
nth = n/(n+1)

Are you talking about the series? You want the formula to predict the nth fraction? You may be making it harder than it is - look at the pattern of the numerators: 1, 2, 3, 4, .. Then look at the pattern of the denominators: 2, 3, 4, 5, .. How does each numerator change with each denominator change? Are they consistently related by some simple factor? I bet you're going to go "D'oh!" when it hits you...
