my fav type of dog is a whippet. what is yours?

I have a German shepard,named Sarge,like the shep we had when I was a kid. It's definately my favorite breed. They are so mellow,gentle and tolerant with kids - but fiercely protective,and that's putting it mildly. This way the kids can go play in the woods all day and I don't have to worry about any stranger approaching them. That simply isn't going to happen with Sarge along. No way. And yet for all that they're as fierce as a Dobe,they are unless threatened or a family of the family is threatened,as laid back and family-pet style as a little cocker spaniel. They protect the house,too. Plus,they're smart. Sarge knows the difference between those loud,color action flicks and the old b&w classics I like from the 30's. He's visibly annoyed when I put on a classic. He just goes to sleep. With a new action film he's all but glued to the screen.

I like the little foo foo lap dogs LOL. Preferably one with a
curly coat with it's hair in it's eyes. Like a Bichon, or a Maltese. Even tho the Maltese has straight hair. I think some
Shitzu's are the cutest also.
But for now, I'll just have to settle for our two Chi's. Since
they are our babies right now. And they are the most active,
and fun fur babies, we've ever seen. They also make the
most messes of any dogs we've ever had as well.

I love them all - I want to get two dogs one big and one small - (I currently have two cats) :)
I have never heard of a whippet??

My favorite is a shepherd/lab mix.
I had a dog like that and he was so smart it was like he was a human, and brave and pretty.
I know that is not an actual breed but you see a lot of dogs that are of that mix and they are wonderful.

I love all dogs,but I prefer the large breeds best. I really love German Shepards,Labs & Rottwilers. oh and Golden Retreivers are cool.
