Why Agarkar takes wickets:
The bowler at the other end, usually Zaheer / Pathan is the loser. They bowl tight line & batsmen cannot score runs easily. So the batsmen look to score easily off Agarkar. So Agarkar gives too many runs and 1 or 2 wickets.
Geoffrey Boycott says:
"He's (Agarkar) bowling at 60mph with no special features of display. I'm sure that the whole of India would love to bat against him".
Agarkar's good times with bat & ball have got over long back. He's staying in the team coz of politics.

as u said, agarkar's economy rate was 7.63 last match and probably this series. Agarkar did get wickets though... But we have to keep in mind that, in this series we are watching scores easily over 300, and with an economy with 7.5 + taking wicket, i wont say he's good... but he isnt thaaat bad as the indian media is criticizing on him. It will not really be a surprise if he does or does not plays the last match, once again, as he's been productive. and if even they dooo take him out, who is gonna replace him???
Munaf Patel?- his economy is not good either, and hes worse in batting and fielding than agarkar
Sreesanth?- haha, hes not productive or has a low economy, he might field, and might bat too
so if we reconsider this all, agarkar is the best choice for me(my opinion, urs might be different) but, i still feel that he will sit out of the next match cause of the media criticizm

Outta Here !!! I am gonna answer this one perfectly ... So READ ALL !!!
Agit Agarkar - He impressed the selector's when he gave a good bowling performances in West Indies against West Indies, and then West Indies in India ... He took out Gayle and others and has a good record of taking cunning wickets at curical times. Lately he has been out of form due to not much bowling. He is only used in ODI's and also the field restricitions ... when you bowl in feild restrictions its very hard to control the runs due to limited feilders on long boundary lines.
I thought to myself that Munaf Patel was the best choice comparing to Agit Agarkar but Agit Agarkar has a nyke to come back wtih a bang .. for example of 4 wickts in both 4 & 5 matches against England. So, I think this would be the last ODI that Agarkar would play ...
He would surely get selected for the Aussies tour to India because he has the good record against them .. his best of 6/42 is a highlight point.
So, If you think that Agarkar is going back, then your wrong .. He is staying in ODI team for Aussies tour and after that ... We have to see in order his form.

Agarkar is an inconsistent bowler. But it is quite usual with many fast bowlers. Just look how many runs Anderson gave away in 8 overs in the same match for no wicket.8-0-79-0.Agarkar had 8-0-63-1. Can you say Anderson is useless.
In fact Dravid erred in not having confidence with his own bowler.Has not Dravid himself hit fours and sixes against English bowlers in slog overs.Don;t you know the quality of our fielding. It is wrong to pick Agarkar alone for the runs given away. After all we don't have too many options. Munaf,Sreesanth,RPSingh... Munaf alone looks better for his wicket taking ability, not for containing batsmen.

Agarkar has never been extra-ordinary, except for his fastest 50 runs scored & fastest 50 wickets, in his initial days.
I am of the opinion that VRV Singh could have been a better choice. However, there are a couple of points in his favour indirectly. Currently only Zahir is strike bowler but fitness is always a "?" Srisant is good for nothing. RPsingh is somewhat ok. But the label of "all rounder" must have helped him. We don't have any fast bowler as all rounder like Kapil, Binny, Amarnath, Prabhakar etc..so.. looks like a poor man's choice.

I have never supported Agarkar's inclusion into ODI. There
is something about him, that some how he manages to be
selected. I understand he was the fastest bowler to take
50 wkts, but after that he is gone into a shell....
I do not know what characteristics of him make him selected.
He has been in the team since 1996/97....
He is too old and even though he is good fielder(better than
the slow pos)....he dropped a catch in the deep....

true. But there are many others in any Indian team of 11, 15 or 20. Can they publish the ranking of performance of the cricketers in this country? List out all the cricketers from all zones and rank them. You will find more than half of the final team will be below their avarage. We need real fast bowlers and we also need real batsmen scoring atleast 40 in any condition like Inzamam.

I think ajit bhai is really want ODI for any sort of issue bcoz of wicket taker of crucial conditions but English condition didn't help his bowling So, Ajit should use a all-rounder but our captain use only bowling that show the ajit not part better. I watch Ajit is the deserved bowling but this series not better.

According to the numerology his name Ajit Agarkar is very lucky for india. And Sharad Pawer is a big believer of numerology I'm told. Just kidding but happy with the outcome of the ODI.
