The height is 7 the base is 5. But it isn't a right triangle.

A= 1/2 bh

1/2x5x7=1/2 x 35=17.5

A=17.5

As long as it's a triangle, you can find out the area. The equation is bh/2. So in this case, it's 7*5=35, 35/2 is 17.5
Right triangles only really matter when you get to trigonometry.

you need to have an angle if it isn't a right triangle or you need the last side length. Are you sure the problem didn't give you that info?
