You can name more than one if you think several are up for the title. Also, why you think this way.

I hate to say it, because I am a Texan.

But I am now convinced it is Texas. The Religious Right has such a strong foothold here it is damn scary.

It seems that this state will be the next battleground state for intelligent design in the science class.

Texas has such a huge influence on school books because of the huge number that are bought that a large number of other states buy the exact same books. So if the Discovery institute can get Intelligent Design in Biology books in Texas they will effectively get them into about 1/2 of the country by default.

Also, If you Watch part 3 fo Christian Aman-Pour's (spell?) special God's Warriors - about 2/3 of the part about Christians was in Texas.

I tell you I am really worried, cause I love Texas, but we keep getting people like George Bush 1& 2, Lyndon Johnson, etc that ust make us look so damned stupid.

I swear we are not all a bunch of cousin humping ignorant rednecks - it just looks that way because that is all that is on TV.

I wonder why your Q&A's are private. Well no matter. Yes I do think Obama is driving the country to the right. Will it show up at the polls next year? Dunno, too soon to tell. Politics is a flighty business and the vox populi is fickle and has a very short memory. But it is gratifying to see it happening after the man has been touted as the Messiah of change in American politics. Good luck to you

I think Kansas, Oklahoma, Montana, Alaska, and Louisiana. Kansas, Oklahoma, Montana and Alaska because these are like the least diverse states in the America and are therefore most locked in their politics. And then Louisiana because, well, it's Louisiana.

What's up sudonym, I'm a Kansan too, where are you from?

Kansas

My home state has banned the teaching of evolution and sex ed, changed the state constitution to ban gay and common law marriages and many people I have talked with consider 'progressive' and 'educated' to be bad words. Lots of women here are opposed to equality. This is the home of the Phelps' as well.

I'm not entirely sure in what way you mean, but I'd say Louisiana & Mississippi. Not only because they were hit hard by hurricane Katrina, but because they have little money and a lot of corruption.
