Once the refrigerants have escaped, the freezer is not going to work. You need to replace the pipes. I doubt if you can get any one to mend the puncture. Then it will have to be recharged with new refrigerant. May be cheaper to buy a new one.
What's this mention of 'Freon', a CFC? It's not allowed in Europe (thank goodness) since 1996. The Japanese, being more enlightened, banned it in 1989. Must still be used in the US of A?

Rarely do you run into a situation where there is a puncture, I would think. I would also think that it would be similar to an auto A/C unit. Once the unit is exposed to air, it draws moisture and most of the major components must be replaced.
You might be able to find a repairman to do that kind of work but I doubt that he would guarantee it. I'm sure that it would be cheaper to chuck it and buy a replacement.
It also depends upon the age, if it's using the older style freon, that's may cost more and may not be available anymore. I also understand that if you should burn these gases that they become toxic, not that they aren't harmful as they are.

If it is old enough to have freon in it could get pricey. Freon is getting more scarce and more expensive goes with scarce. Call a Sears or some similar large company and see if you can get a price just for recharging. Add say 3 hours of the hourly rate to that and as much as $100 for tubing and you will probably start looking for a new freezer or just do without.

hi, i'm an ex kinfolk refrigerator guy, the probabilities of restore are narrow possibly forty%...i'm assuming that as quickly as u stabbed it it went hiss? and the gasoline got here out? The gasoline comes out and the device creates a vac that sucks in water, as quickly as water is in the device this is tough to do away with, i used to grind down the place the stab hollow is, be conscious plumbers leak restoration and then whilst putting use a sq. of particular silver alloy warmth tape and delicate the leak restoration mixture right into a bubble, then while dry... on the back, take the clear out off, blow the sysyem by using with air, new clear out, vac the device with my vac pump and regas, then desire for the superb. often times the device floods with compressor oil, yuk... refrigerators have been extra handy to do than freezers cos there are much less freezing plates, low probabilities of it working on your freezer, and could value approximately 50 quid a minimum of, my suggestion is get a clean freezer. Your present day freezer does not flow to a land fill, they are shipped in bulk to Europe the place they are processed at especially outfitted flora that convey jointly the chemical fumes throughout soften right down to save the ecosystem. i'm in the U. S. this is how i'm basing my information. additionally numerous refrigerator adult males used to decline to the restore because it wasted their high priced refrigerator gasoline if no longer sucessful. you may tell in the 1st couple of hours if this is gonna paintings, if no longer then it merely blocks up and prevents freezing. I continuously had 2 cracks at it then if it nonetheless blocked known because it an afternoon.

I think you are better off to replace the freezer. By the time the thing is patched (if possible) and recharged, it is probably going to cost more than the thing is worth.

It can be repaired, but at quite an expense. If the refer is more than 5 years old, I would suggest you replace it. New chill box, warranty, and you are good to go.
