Ok, my bad, I guess I was not quite specific enough, I was looking more for cleaners I could use, something someone has had sucess with, maybe even something I could use in a steam cleaner...

the best thing i have ever found to clean up pet stain is a product i actually got at the dollar general store its called blue magic pet stain remover...you just spray it on and wait 30 seconds then blot it up..dont scrub it has taken both old and new stains out my my rug and it is a light brown/beige color. luckily these 2 house hounds of mine finally have the whole potty training thing down pat lol. oh it runs about 4 dollars a can but it is WELL worth it. and deodorizes as well.

First rent a capet cleaner or have someone come in and clean the carpet, in a new house that wouldn't be a bad idea anyway (I always clean the carpets when I move to a new place), they have products just for pet stains and smells. You can use Resolve Pet Cleaner for all the accidents from then on........

For do it yourself I cannot praise the Oreck line of products highly enough. I use (in this order), their pet-stain remover, the enzyme spray, the soil loosener spray, and the stain remover powder (this is over two days, that's a lot of chemicals to inhale). I've used the Oreck powder to get tar out of a carpet. It's good stuff.

If you are looking for a professional company to clean your carpet, look for an all-natural one (I'm biased because I'm allergic to fragrances). You don't have to worry about pets running through and honestly I've always found them to be the most effective (They got purple nail polish out of a beige rug. I was beyond impressed)

I would get a regular carpet cleaner, and get as much up as possible. If you leave it sit,the dog might use the area again, because their sense of smell is much greater than ours.My dad puts in carpets, and he has always told me that you never can get out cat stains,so you're in a fixable situation.Your dog was marking his territory, because it was new.You must be strict with him to never do it again.A steam vac would be good to use,i would get dirt devil cleaner.

Rug doctor makes a pet stain remover that works well. It's a small bottle so buy a few of these. Follow the directions on the bottle to remove the stains. They also have one for odor removal.
