This is a loaded question, there is multiple things it could be and unfortunately it needs to be diagnosed by a qualified technician. Everyone here will try to help you but it is virtually impossible for us to tell you what it could be without having the vehicle right in front of us.

If it was overheating before you put the thermostat in, it's probably an old, half clogged radiator. They're too cheap to be worth fixing. You just get a new one. If it started overheating after you put the new thermostat in, somebody fouled up the job.

Are you certain that the thermostat has been put in there right?
It can go in upside down I have corrected this e few times

could also be the radiator or the heater core is partially plugged. also maybe a head gasket has blown. it could also be possible that the thermostat was put in backwards

Open up the reservoir and see if the water is circulating through if not you need a water pump they don't necessary have to be leaking to be bad, hope this helps.
