you know, if you are watching the fx channel or spike tv or any other channel out there, and then all of a sudden a little guy or girl comes popping up out of the bottom of the screen to advertise something else? half the time you can't even see the peoples faces or whatever is on the bottom of the screen because of the "telling you what channel you're watching" thing is on!
Seriously, we need to stop this, it is very VERY annoying!!!

Yep.

And the other thing I hate is typically seen on news channels or the Weather Channel. A banner runs along the bottom of the screen, sometimes more than one banner. Often 20-30% of the screen isn't visible. Then they show something happening and all you can see is the sky because of the banners across the bottom.

I thought they were supposed to have someone in the control room watching for stuff like that.

I doubt they're going to make either of us happy anytime soon, though.

They beat the alternative of yet another commercial interrupting the movie or show I am watching. With practice, they become easy to ignore. Additionally, at times, they tell me things I actually want to know without using a 15 - 30 seconds of commercial time.

Ads are necessary. Somebody has to pay for those shows to be on.

I also like the "scroll" or "crawl" on the news and sports channels. It gives me a chance to see other news without having to wait until they come to it in the course of the show. Especially on the sports channels where sometimes all I want is a score.
