I keep reading that you shouldn't drink coffee while trying to get pregnant. I'm just curious, has anyone had trouble getting pregnant and drank coffee? Is there anything to it?

I think, just like with everything else, there is probably a study somewhere that says that it prevented someone from getting pregnant. I have two lovely children, 5 and 3, and drank caffeine every single day while trying to conceive. I did stop once I got pregnant with my first one, but limited myself to just one caffeine drink with my second one...I just couldn't give it up completely!!! I had no problems getting pregnant, and the caffeine I drank when I was pregnant seemed to have no effect at all on my kids.

It took me 6 years to concieve and I was a moderate coffee drinker. I don't really believe it was the caffeine that delayed my conception but it couldn't hurt to stop. I started ttc at 30 and got pregnant at 36. One thing no one told me though was to start on prenatal vitamins while ttc and really try to have great sex.... I think the quality of the sex is as important as the quantity. (finally concieved during the best session ever!) Good luck, it WILL happen.

A cup of coffee is not going to hurt your chances of conceiving. A 4-pk of Red Bull probably would. My friend drank pop all the time and conceived her kids with no problem, of course she stopped once she got pregnant. I think the caffeine withdrawal headache would hurt fertility more, because you wouldn't feel like BD-ing! Good luck!

DON'T DRINK COFFEE WHEN YOU ARE PREGNANT!!! My aunt drank it and when my cousin was born, he didn't learn how to talk until he was five! I don't think drinking coffee before pregnancy will do anything, but just avoid it when you are pregnant. It's bad for the baby's health.

I drink dr. pepper every day, plenty of it. At the time I was drinking 2 cans a day. Our first child miscarried at 5 weeks. After that came Kimberly on the first try. After that came Joel, on the first try. Then came Jonathan (oops!). Dr. Pepper did not influence anything at all for me.

I have heard that with the daddy, caffiene and smoking both lower the sperm count.

This suggestion is for folks who are having problems trying to conceive. The majority of women can drink a pot down daily and have no problem at all.
