An Alcoholic is always an Alcoholic. It is not curable. But there are recovering Alcoholics that do not drink. that is why I have been so angry when stupid people here accuse him of being a hard drinker. They don't even know that common thing i thought every knew. Thank you for clarifying this.

Alcohol is not all he used to do. The problem these days is that people go by a few sound bites a couple of staged "debates" and some commercials to decide on a candidate. Doing real research would have made you better informed. I doubt he really does the drugs any more but I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't pay a visit to his friends Johnny Walker and Jack Daniels on a regular basis. Being from Texas he might curl up with a little Southern Comfort, and I don't mean Laura.

I have a feeling this is only the first in a bunch of tell all books about the inner workings of George W. Bush and his Administration. What we will find revealed will scare even his most ardent fans. Some are being written now but won't be released until he is out of office. So save your money kiddies there'll be a lot of books to buy and read after January 20, 2009.

It almost seemed to me that facts about Bush's former life were suppressed by the media during the 2000 election. Not only was he an alcoholic but he had a drunk driving conviction--the first US president to be convicted of a serious crime. His business career was a series of failures, but from every one he made money, he only lost investors' money. To this day he doesn't seem to understand he got into the Texas Air National Guard in front of a long waiting list. And he abandoned his job there when he found something else he would rather do.

During his campaign he was asked--one time---if he had every used drugs. Rather than answer the question he got all huffy and said he wasn't going to play the 'gotcha' game. He said that nobody could prove he'd taken any drugs after a certain date, which to me sounded pretty much like an admission that he had used drugs before that.

In fact he lost his flight certification in the Nat'l Guard because he missed a physical, and it's no big stretch to imagine that he did this because he had drugs in his system. (This as after they spent a million taxpayer dollars training him!) Also he did 90 days of public service in Texas in his youth. He says he did it just because he -wanted- to. Do you believe that? I sure don't.

When Bush became Gov. of Texas he was issued a new driver's license! Why would they do that? To cover up his past record.

It is no exaggeration to say that Bush never earned an honest dollar in his entire life. Perhaps he never even really realized how much of his 'success' was due to his dad's friends who were looking for political favors. Everything came easy to him, so naturally he thought being president would be a piece of cake.

the fact that there is any American of voting age that "didn't" know that Bush was an alcoholic is exactly why the man won in 2000 and especially in 2004. If people of voting age did their homework, he would have NEVER been elected.

People spend much, much, much more time shopping for a new pair of shoes than they do for the President of the United States. It is ridiculous.

You obviously have not been paying attention because that has been talked about many times by people who knew him during his "national guard" days. When he would not turn up to work in his father's friends campaign office till the afternoon sporting a hangover and talking about his prior nights binging and how he was doing the same that night
