It should mean that a coin has been sent to a grading service where it is graded and authenticated. The top ones are PCGS, NGC, ANACS and ICG. The rest are a little, to a lot iffy. Now on the other hand I bought some plastic holders from Coin World that look like the old ANACS holders as well as Coin Worlds bigger ones that look like PCGS holders. Now that is in size only. They have labels with them and I could make up mu own company if I wanted too, now some people om eBay have. Get to know what the real holders look like from the above companies so that you don't buy the wrong thing thinking it is from one of them. The big 4 as I call them guarantee what that grade the others as I say are iffy. Hope this helps and it is best you learn to grade coins because they may make a mistake just like anyone else and grading is someones opinion.
