I just read an article in a pregnancy magazine that said that it is an absolute myth that you can cause yourself to go into labor through any of these methods. If your cervix has already started dilating, walking, sex, and nipple stimulation can help it along, but they won't get the dilating started. Castor oil just causes bad cramping in your intestines and won't start labor if your body wasn't ready to start anyway. Your baby will come when it's ready. It's not a good idea to try to force it along.

ah, bless! I'm in exactly the same position as you, i've had 3 false labour starts and am getting fed up being kept on hosp ward after the contractions have stopped just "to see" if it all gets going again. I'm 37 weeks, this all started at 28 weeks, arrrrgghhhh!! I too have tried everything in the past 2 weeks to get things going for real, sex is the only thing that kick starts anything, but then it wears off so ive given up on that now! I am NOT going to try castor oil though! I dont mind doing anything that would only cause me pain, but i've heard that not only would you be in pain with castor oil, but it can have an effect on the baby too and it could pass meconium as in distress, its really not worth it for another 2 weeks of waiting! I have tried fibre sure as a totally more gentle way of clearing me out!! NOTHING!! I've resigned myself to the fact my waters will prob break as i sit down to xmas dinner!! Good luck

Well all the things you listed will work, IF your body is ready to go into labour. You kindof cant force your body into it without pitocin and even then sometimes that doesnt work. I know where you are at. I am 9 months as well but bear in mind that a pregnancy is 40 weeks (40 divided by 4 is 10). so technically you are pregnant for 10 months. Just relax and get things done before the baby comes because you will not have a heck of alot of time.

I don't know about Castor Oil but sex is an okay way, not sure why you would not want to try it there is a substance in sperm that may cause contractions in the uterus and will soften your cervix. Also, nipple stimulation is something that the Dr. told my sister when she had her baby three months ago. Try the old wive's tale of taking a ride down a bumpy road, who knows it may work.

i heard castor oil wasnt safe to take...but i havent tried it so i cant say for sure. Sex will help becuase 1. the mans ejaculate contains a hormone to help soften your cervix and 2. your orgasm can kick up contractions and get the ball rolling. I heard walking helps becuase of gravity and nipple stimulation (which you can do during sex) releases oxytocin into your body which starts contractions. The only thing you have to remember is doing these things isnt like pressing a button, you have to give them a little time to work...but in the long run they do :)

i know ur fed up with waiting. but only a doctor can start you off if you dont start labouring urself..... dont use castor oil. its dangerous i know as mysis-in-law took it and her baby went into distress she had to have emergency c-section and her baby is seriously ill in special care. all this happened the night she took the castor oil.. remember what u drink and eat passes throu ur babys lifeline{ the cord} the miswide actaully told her she caused this through the c-oil she drank.... the baby poohed in the waters and inhaled it her lungs are full of pooh caused by the distress all cos mum wanted baby now and would.t wait . for nature to do it

You'll just have to wait until the baby is ready. If you don't want to try any of the usual "home remedies" for starting labor, then you don't really have any other option.

I misread the question, I thought you weren't trying those things. I don't recommend castor oil, i've tried that with my firstborn, and it gave me a hooorible stomach ache. Walking and squats work to help move the baby down. Do pelvic rocks too.

Be patient! Good things come to those who wait :) Don't try to rush it - take a nap and enjoy a few moments of YOU time!

DON'T USE CASTOR OIL! It can be very harmful, and even sometimes fatal to your baby.
