Here I am in my 10th chapter of Order of the pheonix when it suddenly hit me. Im so eager to watch the movie, but then again I want to complete the book. But I'm bit worried its going to ruin the flavor of the movie now that I got to know "everything"

Oh yes the movies will probably be ruined for you now but it is so worth it. The books are just wonderful and the movie just can't cut it compared to the books. Although I have to admit I didn't hate the movies I knew they couldn't get all the info into a 2 hour movie so I didn't expect much. It might even help you since you have read the books my boyfriend (who has not read the books) left the movie with so many questions and had no idea what was going on in certain points of the movie. I personally like both but the books are much better in my opinion

Read on. Don't mind the movie adaptation so much. If at all, watching the movie first before finishing the book would ruin the book for you. You may opt to watch the movie, then go back to reading the book. But you might get more confused. The fifth movie was a bit of a disappointment for those who've read the books. So I don't know if that's what you meant when you said it's going to ruin the flavor of the movie.

Keep on reading. But if you can't wait to watch the movie, just go back to reading the book after watching. It's much more fun. And if you're a movie lover, you'd need the details in the book for you to appreciate the 6th movie more.

Happy reading and watching.

I was actually pretty impressed with OotP movie. Umbridge's character portrayal was just great--I hated her just as much in the movie as I did in the book. There is a better emphasis on characters than w/ 3 and 4, though they could have done more with Harry's relationships with both Ron and Hermione (as well as with Ron/Hermione's love relationhip). I think you'll probably be happy with it. The ending wasn't quite as cool as the book, but it was still pretty damn scary. Have fun!

The movies, though I'm sure it's tough to cram things into 2 1/2 hours, just don't even come close to doing the books justice. Only 1 and 2 have excellent screenplays (5 is pretty good, but not excellent). The screenplays for 3 and 4 were just plain bad for anyone who'd ever read the books (even though GoF did really well, it was overdone and WAY different from the book), and all of the movies have cut out important things, such as the relationship between Harry and Dumbledore as well as the Weasley family, and the importance of the Prophecy. The character development is way underdone, too, too much emphasis on action and not enough on the characters. the actor's portrayal of Dumbledore's character is WAY off the mark, though I love the three main characters.

I even have examine the sequence many cases besides. and that i will declare that the books are a lot greater suitable then the flicks and that's because of the fact greater could be in good condition into them so each and all the large information are in there. yet while the flicks have been 10 hours long im advantageous they could put in each and all the small print of the books. universal nonetheless seeing the flicks could allow you to take excitement in the sequence greater because of the fact it permits you to examine what the director and so on predicted and your mind's eye. the flicks do a especially reliable job is portraying the books and are nicely completed. The books are spectacular yet that doesn't advise the flicks are no longer large! the flicks are additionally large in case you opt to proportion hogwarts magic with acquaintances or kin (it particularly is awkward to examine one yet another the books) and in case you dont have time to examine the books the flicks are a large supplement that are a pair hours long.

Nah. We've been doing this all along - that is if you read the first book as soon as it was released and the same with all the others.

Books are almost always better than their movie adaptations, but when i'm reading the books sometimes I can't wait to see how it comes across in the movies. Especially any dueling scenes, what with the incredible CGI stuff they can do.

to be honest, I think that reading the book first is sooo much better, because you can get to know how the film SHOULD be, and you don't miss things out, unlike the movies, which miss loads of stuff out! I always try to read the book before the film comes out, because books are so much better than films anyway, not just because the films miss half of the story out, but because you can get a background to the characters, you can know what they are feeling, thinking, etc. Books are wonderful things! lol!!

So I think you should carry on reading the book, because the film is no where near as important! and then afterwards, read the other books too!!! =D

I love the books and have always considered the movies more of an extension of the pleasure that I get from reading. Kind of like seeing a different production of a play I've seen before and enjoyed.

I don't think so - for me it brings life and color to the characters - I love the people they've cast as the roles and it rounds it out. Besides the books have much more detail - and the movies are enjoyable...

If you watch the movie it will tell you what happens at the end of the book tho, of course... so you may want to wait.

I have always thought that the movies wouldn't make any sense to people who haven't read the books. I would definitely recommend finishing the book before you see the movie.

I don't think reading the books is what spoils the movies.

Lack of stylistic vision, bad editing and poor scripting is what spoils the movies.

Daniel Radcliffe is the man, though. And if you're anything like anyone else who's seen OotP, you'll adore Luna Lovegood.
