I go to Baruch College in NYC, and next semester i will have to announce my major. I narrowed down my choice from marketing, finance, and accounting. Im leaning more to more towards marketing and finance, accounting is my last pick, because of the dryness of work( so i heard) , but what is the best major to get a job with right after college? i have to pick now, because i will have to do internships, that have to do with my major. Marketing sounds like the most fun job, but less paying, finance jobs are something in between, accounting i heard is high paying but boring , so ?

Definitely not marketing. I can't tell you how many of my peers graduated with marketing degrees and could not find jobs.

As for accounting or finance, both are good options. Think back to your freshman/sophomore level classes. Accounting degree plans will build off ACC I & II (financial and managerial), while Finance will build off Economics I & II.

Pick whichever one of those classes you liked best. Either will require much work and study, and pay off with great rewards.

Good Luck!!

First I should warn you from my own experience that accounting is EXTREMELY boring. No matter how many times you have heard it, you are still underestimating the boredom. Most universities will have a specific "finance" stream to their business administration programs, look around and find one that does. Most accounting courses in college/university will have at least one or two finance courses included. Your best bet is to go with accounting if you can't find a specific finance major. I think there are specific finance designations where you basically just have to write a few tests for them. Marketing is basically sales & designing stuff and has very little to do with the numbers. Accountants normally have a healthy rivalry (read:hate) for the marketing types.... and nobody likes human resources. Accountants: Quiet and sit in the corner Marketers: Potheads Human Resources: Completely nuts.

Finance and Accounting have more job opportunities than marketing. But you should only do them if you can handle the mathematics.

if you want to keep your options open for the future, i would go with marketing. You can pretty much get a job in any feild with a marketing degree because almost every company has a marketing team. That being said, finance is where the money is at.
