Ugh. Other than the fact that every part of my body is now covered with a layer of fat and bloat--my face is constantly broken out. It's bad for the baby to tan so I'm white as a ghost. My boobs are so swollen that they droop, and huge brown nipples just look gross--that's what happens to your boobs when pregnant. I'm too tired to put make-up on or fix my hair most of the time--so I look like a crappy version of a crappy version of myself. Yes, I meant to repeat that.
My feet are humongous and look like my husband's gnarly feet. And--I'm huge. I have a double chin and I've outgrown my biggest maternity clothes. I think that's enough reasons to feel ugly while pregnant. I'm sure I've left something out.
You asked.......

I don't! :-) I'm pregnant, and although I have my moments of feeling big and awkward, for the most part I love the way I look when I'm pregnant. It's such an exciting time, and it's the one time in your life when you don't have to worry about your gut hanging out! :-) I say enjoy the glow and the extra curves and show it off during those nine months! Right now seems to be a really good time to be pregnant too. With so many stars having babies in the past few years I think that people are finally appreciating the beauty of the pregnant woman and all of these famous women have shown that you don't have to just throw on a Muu-muu when you're pregnant either. There are so many stylish looks out there right now for pregnant women! I'm actually dreading the day when I have to go back to normal... ugh! :-(

Ugh, I thought I looked like Shrek. I know I did. I felt awful. Not about the big belly, but how swollen my face and hands and feet were. I seriously looked like Shrek. I never let anyone take a single picture of me because I was so embarassed and now I regret that I don't have that picture for the baby book. Oh well, there is always next time. I appreciate your encouraging comments!

Beside the normal social standards to be thin they are also dealing with major body changes that are out of their control.
It is one of the hardest things to go through, your body getting bigger, veins making your chest look like a road map, stretch marks, extra gas, dry or oily broken out skin, puking, pissing yourself just a little if you sneeze, or laugh to hard. All of which is uncontrollable.
Yes, the concept of a pregnant woman is beautiful and seeing a mother with her newborn child is one of the Most moving things. But theses are views from the outside. From a woman living it, it doesn't always have the same rosy picture.

It's a self confidence drop, I suppose. Not all women who are pregnant think they are ugly, some actually like the way they look when they are pregnant. Most of us want to look good, and we try to keep up our bodies. When we are pregnant we have to wait before we can focus on fitness agian. We gain weight and put it on our thighs and hips, and its hard to get rid of.

I'm pregnant and don't think I'm ugly! I'm 2 months along with my 2nd child and have never felt ugly ~ even with my first.
Now, towards the end of the pregnancy, esp the last month, you really blow up.. but I still would never call myself ugly!

I think it's because with all the swelling and feeling huge, it makes us feel a little down in the dumps. At least it does for me!! I don't think i'm ugly, i just don't feel attractive right now. But your beautiful words did cheer me up a little!

Because you feel nauseated, tired and gross, so you assume you look as bad as you feel. And you've obviously gained weight, so that makes you feel uncomfortable too. Everyone told me I was so cute when I was pregnant, but I just felt so nasty all the time that I couldn't believe that I possibly looked good!

Because they were never as big and everything upsets them
on count of their hormones are out of wack(not right). They think they are fat. I didn't feel that way,but there are some that do.I hope this helps.Just be understanding and treat them as if they were your sister when she is pregnant.

... because you see the outside... just the parts that they can't hide! speaking from experience... the female body goes through so many changes with pregnancy. it's the ultimate sacrifice. there are varicose veins, swollen ankles, maybe stretchmarks, showing veins, ugh... it just gets awful...
so... yes, deep down we know it's beautiful, but when you're enduring it for many many months it just doesn't seem quite as attractive.
it's all worth it, though!
