on the way they dress?

Isn't that rather shallow?

I'd rather judge the person on how they act but seems not to be the case for most people.

I live in NY so people dress in all kinds of ways I judge people on how they talk and act. because no matter what they wear it's the person inside that counts.

yes, I do on occasion judge people by how they dress..
I don't think it's shallow in the times that I do. If ya got some jackazz with his pants down below his buttt, do ya really think the guy can hold a conversation on the history of the ottoman empire? Hardly, and yet, I welcome the surprise. Some guy in a business suit is usually a working man, just like a blue collar. Usually those that bend to fashion are lemmings who seek the approval of sheep. Hows that for being judgmental? Now, whether or not one person has more value or importance than another.... that is a whole different story.

You will find that in your journey through life, shallow people exist. Weather you shop at Wal-Mart or Macy's or Sax 5th Ave. We all put our pants on the same way, one leg at a time.

Think of this way, every time you apply for a job, there are on average 10 others also applying, think about what makes YOU the best choice for the job and not what makes you better than the other 9 people.

No one wants to say they do, but it is common to judge on the way people dress. I do and I know I have been judged. I just don't care anymore.

I don't judge people.
I know that people judge me on how I dress; not in a bad way...but they think that I'm some conceited person.

&& I know how that feels, so I wouldn't want to make someone else feel like that.

I might not agree with what people wear...but what can I do about it? nothing.

I try not to, but like everyone appearance is the first thing I see, but generally I don't "really" judge someone until I get to know them or see how they act around others.

Not unless they are in the extremes. For example a guy walks into a coffe shop and has shorts and a t shirt, no problem, he walks in with 2 week old stanky muddy, stained, clothes he slept in for days. Yup judge away.

Unfortunately, we have to live life with incomplete information since we don't have the opportunity to get to know everyone we see. So many people make assumptions about others based on how they dress. We know that many of these assumptions will be wrong. And if we get to know the people around us better, our perception of them will usually change drastically. But if we don't get the opportunity to know someone better, those little bits of information, albeit incomplete, are somewhat useful.

Actually, I don't judge people by dress. It's weird, but clothes is not the first thing I notice. The person could be wearing heavy, drab clothing or next to none -- I notice their personality and how they carry theirselves instead.
